2018 has been the craziest season we've seen in our young fantasy football league thus far for a number of reasons. Scoring is off the charts. Records are being broken and streaks are being extended. Playoff odds are being jeopardized with the wide open field of contenders, and no team has clinched a playoff spot yet meaning everything is on the line in these final two weeks. Here is the team-by-team breakdown of all the playoff scenarios.
1. Terrance 8-4 (5-1)
Terrance is the only owner who can win and get in this weekend. Everyone else needs a win plus. A win is good enough to clinch the division for Terrance this time around, but he can also clinch the division with a loss if Schweg AND Chase both lose.
He can clinch a playoff spot with a loss AND a loss from Chase
OR losses from both Schweg and Jake.
2. Ryan 7-5 (5-2)
Stumbling in the last two games, somehow I still sit on top of the division thanks to early season divisional wins. I can clinch the division with a win AND losses from Jacob and Jake.
And I can clinch at least a playoff spot with a win AND a loss from Jake OR Chase.
3. Jacob 7-5 (3-3)
Jacob finishes the season with two division games. He is not able to clinch the division this week, but he can clinch a playoff spot with a win AND losses from Ryan and Sean
OR a win AND losses from Ryan and Chase
OR a win AND losses from Jake, Sean AND Chase
4. Schweg 7-5 (3-4)
Whoa, when did this guy enter into the playoff picture? Schweg once sat at 2-5 and has now won 5 games in a row, and the last 4 came after the mega trade he crafted. He cannot clinch a playoff spot this week, but a win in a game against me (another 7-5 team) would certainly increase his chances heading into a week 14 game against Terrance. He would need to finish with a better overall record than Terrance to win the division based on their division records, but there are also scenarios with 3 or even 4 teams tied that would require strength of victory to determine a winner.
5. Chase 6-6 (4-2)
The team that got off to the hottest start has been truly snakebitten after Deshaun Watson dropped 29 points to help Jake win by 2 points. After 6 straight wins, Chase is looking at a 6-game losing streak with no playoff clinching scenarios in week 13. He is the only team in the Schwegdemption Division that can finish with a better division record than Terrance, so there is definitely still hope. His early win over Ryan in week 1 could come in handy for wildcard scenarios, but he has a loss to Jacob.
6. Aaron 6-6 (4-3)
Now here's a guy....another guy I thought was just about written off but has now won 3 straight games to get back to .500. Benefiting from losses from Ryan & Jacob, Aaron still has a legitimate shot at winning the division or at least a playoff spot. He can't clinch in week 13, but a win over Jacob would move him past his brother in the standings with a 5-3 division record.
7. Jake 6-6 (3-3)
The snake comes through with another memorable serpentine performance on MNF. Sometimes snakes pretend not to be interested in their prey just for the thrill of the attack. Whether you thought it was a fumble or not, Deshaun Watson had a huge game to keep hope alive. Jake was actually still in the playoff picture even with a loss in week 12, so a win makes it much better especially with winnable division games coming against Erik and Ryan, who might be without Melvin Gordon for some time. This division is still completely up in the air and could come down to 3 or 4 way ties with strength of victory tiebreakers as the determining factors.
8. Sean 6-6 (2-4)
A tough blow to Downtown Browntown as they were not able to pull out a win without the Chiefs, but Sean has the opportunity to face Goliath and take them down with games against Terrance and Chase ahead. Sean can't win the division, but two wins against upper teams could get Sean into the top four. We all know Sean's team is at the top of scoring potential, so we'd be foolish to count him out. A loss in either of these games, however, will just about end Sean's chances.
9. Jarrett 6-6 (2-5)
You sneaky little bastard, getting touchdowns from Corey Davis and Eric Lebron James. I was relieved that I faced you on Gurley's bye week, but it didn't matter. This was a gritty game that stayed close throughout, even going back to Thanksgiving, but you found a way to get back into the mix and drag me back down to the mix as well. Jerry's 2-5 division record is trouble and he is eliminated from winning the division, but he faces two other 6-6 teams to close the year in Chase and Aaron. If he gets some help and can leap over another team or two, Jarrett could make the playoffs.
10. Erik 1-11 (1-5)
Well Erik, 2017 was an awesome year for you. Most points ever scored in a championship. Todd Gurley was on fire. You had Lev Bell too! And the #1 QB and #1 WR on your team. We are all thankful you will be passing along the trophy this year. This record 10-game losing streak continues with tough games against Jake and Jacob ahead. Erik would need to win both of these games to avoid being the outright worst team in fantasy history. We have never seen a 12 loss team...yet.
